Sunburn Home Remedies Overview

Sunburn Home Remedies

Whether you have recently gotten your first sunburn or you are tired of getting one every summer and then just suffering with it, you will find that looking for sunburn home remedies is the way to go. The truth is that you do not need any extremely sophisticated or modern cures for sunburn. After all, people have been getting it for thousands of years and you can bet that there are a number of different ways for you to treat it. Consider some of the great home remedies that will allow you to treat sunburn quickly and easily.

When it comes to sunburn home remedies, don't forget that cool water is a great way to get some of the heat off initially. Before you do anything else, fill a bathtub will cool water. Do not fill it with cold water as this can be a really unpleasant shock. You may want a to get a friend or family member to fill it for you, so that you do not go overboard on how cold you make it. If you do not have access to a tub, a towel or a shirt that has been soaked in cool water will do.

If you want to look around for sunburn home remedies, you might not need to look much further than the kitchen cabinet. There are plenty of things in there that can help you quell a hot sunburn. For instance, take a look in your fridge for some plain yogurt. It's cool and soothing, and after about fifteen minutes, you can rinse it off in a cool shower. Some people swear by thin slices of potatoes or cucumbers, while other people prefer to simply make a paste of cornstarch and water that can then be applied directly to the sunburn.

When you want to get more involved, you can also boil lettuce leaves in water. Then you only have to strain them and then they should be left to sit for several hours in your refrigerator. After it has cooled, use cotton balls to apply the liquid on to your inflamed skin. When you are dealing with very delicate burned tissue, like your eyelids, consider using a teabag that has been soaked in cool water. This will let the swelling go down and it will be a much more gentle experience than trying to do anything more directly.

Sunburn remedies can take a lot of different forms. For instance, some people believe that spraying vinegar on the affected area will help the skin cool down. You may also help reduce the pain by wrapping dry oatmeal into gauze and running cool water over it Then toss the oatmeal (or cook and eat it!) and use the water you ran through it to soak compresses to go over your skin. Aloe vera can also cool your skin while healing it.

Take a moment to consider what home remedies might work to rid you of your sunburn and to heal you up fast; there are a number of them out there that might suit you!
