Sunburn Dangers Can Be Deadly

The sun can be refreshing and healthy when taken in the right amount of doses but most people tend to overdo a good thing when it's beautiful outside. Sunburn dangers are real and can be deadly when we think that our skin is tough and elastic enough to fend off any prolonged effects. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The sun has very strong UV radiation rays. The misconception that tanned skin is healthy skin is realized when premature aging and skin wrinkling begins to take place. Healthy cells contained within the deeper layers of our skin begin to wither and die, unable to help our outer layer to stay vibrant. Another form of UV radiation causes sunburn and can result in different types of skin cancer.

The dangers of sunburn may not be evident when you are young or are not educated on the way that our skin works to defend the exterior threats of different exposures. Our external skin layer is actually the thinnest of the three layers of skin that we have. Sunburn dangers or an accident with fire are both warnings to your body that something is harming your skin and needs immediate action to protect your two other layers.

Our middle layer of skin, known as the dermis, holds our hair follicles, blood vessels, oil glands, elastic fibers and protein fibers. Cells held in the dermis, produce the elasticity of our outer layer work together with all of these factors to keep our skin from sagging and wrinkling. Spending time in the sun, without protection, causes these cells to stop interacting, especially when there is the right climate for the danger of sunburn.

The deepest layer of skin is the most relevant in production of cells. This is where five layers of cells are born and distributed among renews the body’s ability to slush off damaged cells in the other two layers and push out the new. This is where the damage done by the danger of sunburn occurs, even though you cannot see it.

Although aging skin can be unhealthy and unattractive, it is not as deadly as the different types of skin cancer that exist from the common sunburn, dangerous enough to threaten your well-being and even your life. Over 25,000 new cases of Squamous Cell Carcinoma skin cancer are reported in the United States each year. This is the most common form of cancer among Americans and originates from squamous cells that are found in the outer layer of the skin.

Other cancers can manifest themselves and infect surrounding tissues of the infected area and you may not even know you are susceptible to sun burn danger until it is too late. Other problems created by sunburn danger include damage to the eyes, causing cataracts and macular degeneration.

It is so important to protect yourself and more importantly, your children, from the dangers of sunburn. Always remember the sunscreen, even during the winter months. The sun's rays are just as intense during this season and protect your skin with clothes and hats; white is the best color to detract the sun's rays. Think about what you are doing to your body from sunburn danger and protect it so it will serve you well for a very long time.
