Sun Protective Clothing Overview

Everyone likes to walk about in the day when they have free time. They like to shop, and go sight seeing, and do things. But they can get sunburned if they are not careful. One way to be careful is to wear sun protective clothing. This type of clothing is meant to be comfortable but protect the user from the sunlight.

As far as what it is it’s very simple. Unless you are being suckered in to paying several hundred dollars for a shirt to protect you from the sun, you would just wear normal clothing. By normal I mean clothing from before the era when it was common to show off 90% of your body. Basically long sleeved shirts, full legged pants, and hats. Ever wonder why the early colonists and the Amish people wear the clothing they do even when they work?

It’s to protect them from the sun. This clothing keeps the sun from beating down on their bare skin and thus protects them from sunburn. This does make them sweat more however but it’s a small price to pay. After all they can go out, work, walk, do whatever they want, and not get burned in their old fashioned out of date clothing. While you in your latest greats in style clothing get turned into a burnt piece of toast.

Now some people may argue that you can use sun block, and this is true. But wearing sun protective clothing eliminates the need to coat yourself in greasy chemicals. So there’s you choice, coat yourself in goo, or wear warmer clothing. Personally I’d go with the clothing as its cheaper, and you don’t have to replace it as often, and it won’t make you feel like a slime creature.

Of course more people are paying attention to the way people have been getting sunburned and are designing better clothing around it. They make their clothing out of lighter, cooler materials that provide the same level of protection. They are also making more brightly colored materials, the lighter the color the more light, and warmth reflected off the material. That’s why many people wear white on warm days, it keeps them cool.

Another aspect of clothing that’s picking up attention is hats. No not the small ball cap hats that most people wear. Real full sized hats. These offer protection on the front, back, and sides. These larger hats keep your head cool, and can prevent sun burning of the ears and neck. That type of sunburn is always fun to deal with to say the least. Nothing worse than having sunburn on your upper back or neck, and rolling over on it in the middle of then night.

There are many steps you can take to protect yourself from sun burning. Wearing sunburn protective clothing is one of them. Other methods may include wearing sunscreen, or just wearing normal clothing that covers everything. Regardless the sun is a bit more volatile than it use to be and as such is starting to burn people more. The earth protective magnetic field has natural cycles that leave it weaker sometimes. The field is currently going through one of those cycles now, nothing to worry about though, it’s normal.
