Severe Sunburn Treatment

Severe Sunburn Treatment - How to Relieve the Pain and Discomfort

Severe sunburn can cause a great deal of discomfort. It can sometimes be avoided with the proper application of sunblock and small amounts of time in the direct sunlight. However, many people may lose track of time or forget to reapply the sunscreen after swimming, which can wash off the protection. This can lead to an uncomfortable sunburn, which many people then seek treatment for as soon as possible.

Cool the Skin

The first thing you should do before applying any treatments to the skin is cool the sunburned area. This will help remove the uncomfortable burning experienced with severe sunburn. To do this, take a cold shower or apply cold, wet towels to the affected areas of the body. This should be done as soon as possible after the burn, particularly within the first few hours of coming in from the sun.

Vinegar

Applying vinegar to the area can reduce the likelihood of blisters forming, as well as help eliminate the pain. Mix one half cup white vinegar with one cup water. Wet a washcloth with the liquid, and dab onto the sunburned skin and allow it to dry. Be careful not to run the area, as that will only irritate it further. Apply this 2-3 times a day for it to be most effective.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera gel has been proven to effectively treat various skin ailments, including severe sunburn. It’s soothing ingredients can help remove the heat of the burn and repair the damaged skin. Pure gel from an Aloe Vera plant is recommended for the treatment of sunburn. Products often contain smaller amount of the gel, and other ingredients such as alcohol that can dry out the skin and cause further irritation. Chill the stalks of the plant in the freezer before applying the gel to make it cool. This will make it feel even better when applied to the skin.

During the summer, with vacations and beautiful sunny days, sunburns can sometimes not be avoided. Severe sunburn can affect anyone, but those with fair skin are more prone to having their bodies burned worse than those with tanned skin. For this reason, it is important to seek out a severe sunburn treatment that will work quickly to relieve the pain and unsightly redness of sunburned skin. Top.
