Burn Treatment

There are many different kinds of Burn Treatment, it really depends on the severity of the burn. For first degree burns, there are all kinds of different treatments available, non of which require going to the doctor. If you are experiencing pain, a good over the counter pain reliever should work. The pain you are feeling is an indication that the burn is still active. Taking a cool shower, or bath can relieve symptoms and cut down on swelling on your back chest and shoulders, and for the arms or legs, running them under cool water for at least five minutes should help. There are many topical creams that you can use, including Aloe Vera. This plant is very versatile, and has been used for a long time to not only relieve burn pain, but also as a way to promote healing.

Burn Treatment for second degree burns are somewhat different. For these burns, there could be blistering in addition to the redness and swelling. Remove any clothing or jewelry from the burn before the swelling starts, run the effected area under cool water, or apply a wet compress like a wet towel, for example, but don't use ice or super cold water, because this can do more damage to the burned area. DO NOT break any of the blisters, as the underlying skin can become infected if exposed. Cover the burn with a loose gauze bandage, and don't tape on any area of the burn. Ointments, grease, and other home remedies like this should not be used, they hold in the heat, and make the damage much worse. As soon as you can, see a doctor for second degree Burn Treatment, because they will prescribe an antibiotic to help the healing process and to fight off infection.

Burn Treatment for third degree burns have to be carefully used. A third degree burn is a burn that goes through all three layers of skin, and could be effecting the muscle tissue as well. The skin may look charred, or even become translucent. You may also be able to see blood vessel just below the surface. First aid is important right away, to cut down on time needed to recover. Do not remove any clothing, unless it can be done easily.

Now, your victim may or may not feel any pain, but they will go into shock. In most cases, a third degree burn will damage nerves, preventing them from feeling anything, but since all three degrees of burning may be involved, the less effected areas are going to be extremely painful. Cover the burn with a cool moist sterile bandage or clean cloth. If it is a large area, a wet sheet can be used. If the hands are burned separate the fingers with sterile non adhesive bandages, to prevent the fingers from fusing together. Above all, seek medical attention right away.

You can find many resources for Burn Treatment online. There are many websites that offer first aid tips, as well as information on what to do to help the healing process, like oatmeal baths, or applying vitamin E to newly formed skin. Do not use any information that says to apply grease, butter, or anything else like this to the burn, it will make the burn much worse. Top
